Your Four Types of Dentures

Posted .

Dentures generally aren’t a go-to decision for smile restoration. But did you know that dentures can be not only an effective method of tooth replacement, but also a cost-friendly one? Today our team at Family Smile Center, LLC will show you three common denture options people use today to restore their smile to its full potential.

But first, what are dentures? Dentures essentially are replacements for missing teeth. They can be taken out and put back into your mouth quickly. Here are three denture options you may choose from, depending on your needs:

• Conventional Full Denture – This denture is placed in your mouth after all of your re-maining teeth have been removed and after all tissue has been healed. It takes a few months for your mouth to fully heal and during this time you are without teeth.

• Immediate Full Denture – The immediate full denture is placed immediately after the re-maining teeth are removed. These can give the assurance of having teeth when you leave the dentist office but also means your dentures will need to be relined after a few months.

• Partial Denture – This denture rests on a metal frame that attaches to your remaining natural teeth to fill in any missing teeth.

• Implant Retained Dentures – This cost-effective method commonly used by our dentists, Dr. Cha and Dr. Dinh, involves securely placing dentures in your mouth with implants. This method ensures the dentures stay in place, improving the way your teeth look and feel.
