Scared of the Dental Chair? Learn More About Sedation Dentistry | Family Smile Center LLC

Our team at Family Smile Center understands that dental appointments may be a little scary and nerve racking. But, to help you finally relax while you’re in the hands of our dentists, Dr. Cha and Dr. Dinh, we are thrilled to offer sedation dentistry!

Sedation dentistry is a branch of dentistry that is solely dedicated to helping you feel more comfortable at your appointments. At our office, we proudly offer nitrous oxide sedation and oral sedation.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation
Nitrous oxide sedation is a flavored, gas-like sedative that is inhaled through the nose. When you come into our office, Dr. Cha or Dr. Dinh will place a small mask over your nose. Then, the mask will release the sedative and once you deeply inhale for a few minutes, you will begin to feel tingly, light headed, and relaxed. You will likely remain awake during your appointment, and you won’t necessarily need a ride home after the treatment. The affects of the sedative will wear off quickly.

Minimal Oral Sedation
Minimal oral sedation is a sedative that comes in the form of a pill. You will generally take the pill prior to your appointment. We can offer this minimal oral sedation to patients over 12 years old. Once taken, the pill will make you feel groggy and relaxed. Depending on the dose of the sedative, you may fall asleep during your appointment. This pill will help you finally relax in the dental chair. Please have someone available to drive you home after the appointment.

If you would like to know more about sedation dentistry and how it can finally help you feel comfortable in our dental office, please feel free to give us a call. We are happy to help you!
